Planet of Ash is a furry sci-fi visual novel with horror and romance elements.
Set in the year 2324, you assume the role of Milo, who serves aboard the exploratory space vessel Endeavor. After piloting an away mission to the mysterious planet G-831 and bearing witness to something horrifying, Milo and five of his comrades soon find themselves completely stranded.
Disconnected from everything and everyone they once knew and loved, the six of them will have to survive long enough for a rescue mission to reach them—but that won’t be easy. As they soon find out, G-831 is host to an abundance of otherworldly dangers. They’ll have to rely on each other to have any chance of escaping with their lives. However, as Milo and the others soon discover, the biggest danger of all might not come from the planet, but from within themselves…

I’m glad you’re excited! I was inspired by a lot of things, but most notably other furry VNs (especially Echo and Adastra) and Star Trek.
Is the Alien films one of them?

Is the fact that Adastra has hundreds of choices but only one of them matters -- multiple chapters later -- one of the inspirations?
Planet of Ash isn’t structured much like Adastra; it has several routes and multiple potential endings each, so there are a lot of important choices. (Also, Adastra only has six choices if I remember correctly, but several of them factor into which ending you get.)
I mean, it's been a long time since I played Adastra, but I can assure you that if it only had 6 choices I absolutely wouldn't have played it. And when I did, the only relevant choice was whether your name was wiped from the database or not.
